In this tutorial, I will show you how to manually restore your WordPress site from a backup. We will restore the database, files and folders.

Free versions of a large number of WordPress backup plugins do not have an auto-restore feature, so if you need to restore your site, you need to do it manually.

First, download the files and folders from your WordPress site. Log in to your cPanel host account and click File Manager. Open the root of the WordPress site that you are restoring.

Once you are in the root download the ZIP file that contains all your files and folders from the WordPress site. Once downloaded, select all the files in your root website, except the ZIP, and delete them.

Now click on the ZIP file and click on Extract. This will place all site files in the root directory.

Now, restore the WordPress database.

Return to your cPanel hosting account and open the PHPMyAdmin application.

When it loads, find the name of your database in the left column and click on it. All tables must be loaded in the middle pane. Check the box to the left of all the tables to select them, then scroll to the bottom of the page.

In the drop-down list, select Delete, then click OK, and then click Yes on the next page. This will erase your entire WordPress database.

Now click on the Import tab at the top. Click the Browse button and find your .sql backup file and click Open. Then click on Go and your database will be downloaded.
